As former senior vice president and general counsel of Hunt Consolidated, Inc., Richard Massman was involved and remains active with the strategic and legal planning for all major business initiatives in all of the company's lines of business.
Prior to joining Hunt in 1994, Massman was a founder and Partner/Shareholder in the law firm, Hewett Johnson Swanson & Barbee (known in succeeding years as Johnson Swanson & Barbee; Johnson & Swanson; Johnson & Gibbs; and Johnson & Wortley) where he specialized in taxation.
Professionally, Massman is board certified in tax law. He has served as chairman of the section of taxation of the Dallas Bar Association and chairman of the section of taxation of the State Bar of Texas. In addition, he has taught courses at the Southern Methodist University School of Law and has lectured at numerous seminars and courses on tax law. For 10 years prior to leaving private law practice, he was listed in the annual referral guide, Best Lawyers in America.
Massman received a B.S.E. in actuarial science, cum laude, from The Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania, and his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
